Innovative Lawyers Global Summit
The Countdown Is On

Event overview
AI along with other factors are radically re-shaping the business and practice of law. The pace of change is breathless and has impact across the board for law firms, in-house counsel, legal technology companies and alternative service providers and, importantly, for the way in which they interact.
The 2026 FTIL-RSGI Global Summit will examine legal leadership when the rule book is being torn up. The event will also see the launch of the inaugural FT Law 50: fifty individuals who are helping the commercial profession navigate velocity, instability and potentially – existential disruption.
What makes the summit different?
The FT Innovative Lawyers Global Summit isn't just a gathering for legal tech leaders and service providers, like many summits. We convene leaders who define and steer all aspects of the profession, from the 'why' to the 'how' and even 'whether'. Our event takes place under Chatham House Rules to encourage candid discussions and meaningful conversations about contentious and polarising topics.
The legal profession is facing more questions than ever, and our expert panels of speakers share their wealth of experience to answer them, and equip you to think about how you would answer them yourself. From the ethics of using AI and how to build ethical practice into existing LLMs, to the execution of big picture decisions like when to challenge the status quo and what this means for courageous leaders.
AI may enable our profession to respond more efficiently, with higher accuracy and at lower cost, but underpinning these advances is the need for the rule of law to remain as unquestionable as ever, and whether it can withstand this changeable geopolitical landscape.

World-class legal leaders and speakers
Key themes include:

Can the Rule of Law Hold?
What implications do developments in the US hold for the rule of law and democracy in other nations? What function can private practice legal professionals and Chief Legal Officers serve in the stabilisation of such systems?

The Future of Legal Services: the technologists’ view
The legal technology sector's significant expansion over the past three years has spurred major debate about the future of the legal services industry. Key questions include: Will legal AI entities be forced to deliver legal services to justify valuations? Will AI-centric law firms thrive, or will established practices simply adopt 'law as a service,' mirroring 'Software as a Service (SaaS)'?

The CLO in the Age of Disruption
The chief legal officer is central to a new era of risk—more political, technological, and fragmented—driven by geopolitical instability, regulatory divergence, AI, and shifting corporate purpose.
